Ana is the Associate Director of Clinical Development and Operations at Covenant. Born in Mexico City and raised in Sarasota, Florida, Ana is a licensed practical nurse (LPN) with additional certifications in phlebotomy, IV therapy, medical terminology, and as a certified nursing assistant. She earned her nursing degree from Suncoast Technical College and completed pre-nursing coursework at State College of Florida. Her bilingual background, with Spanish as her native language, enhances her ability to communicate across diverse patient populations.

Ana began her healthcare journey working directly with patients facing mental health challenges. That early experience deeply shaped her values, instilling in her a strong foundation of patience, empathy, and compassion—qualities that continue to guide her leadership and clinical approach. Her interest in research began while working as a laboratory technician in a Clinical Research Center. She quickly became captivated by the field, expanding her responsibilities to include EDC entry, research assistant tasks, and regulatory support. That exposure inspired her to return to school and pursue a formal nursing career, ultimately leading her into clinical research coordination and operational leadership.

Since joining Covenant, Ana has played a critical role in both hands-on research execution and high-level operational strategy. She initially served as the Director of Clinical Research and primary Study Coordinator for one of the company's largest and most complex trials. Her success in that role led to her promotion to Associate Director. In her current position, she oversees study startup from pre-site selection through site activation, manages source development systems, and serves as interim Site Lead for the Sarasota clinical team. She is particularly proud of helping build and implement new operational processes, including systems for tracking source development and startup milestones, as well as fostering stronger collaboration between clinical teams across all sites.

Ana is deeply passionate about refining and scaling Covenant's operational procedures to support long-term growth and clinical excellences. Her goals include expanding the educational plan for the clinical team, growing the source development department, and proactively addressing study roadblocks before they impact activation timelines. What motivates her most is the success of her team and the growth of the organization. She finds great fulfillment in mentoring new coordinators and seeing them evolve into confident, independent leaders managing trails of their own.

Outside of work, Ana finds peace and rejuvenation in nature. She enjoys camping at national parks and disconnecting from everyday life, often finding those quiet outdoor moments to be her favorite way to reset and recharge.
