Dominika Budai, M.S.

Call Center Director

Dominika was born in Balatonboglár, Hungary and speaks Hungarian as her native language. She earned her B.S. in Pre-Professional Biology from Florida Gulf Coast University and went on to complete her M.S. in Medical Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of Florida. Her path into medicine began as an ER tech and medical scribe in Fort Myers, where she floated between all emergency departments at Lee Health – an experience that exposed her to a wide range of medical conditions and treatments and laid the groundwork for her future in clinical research.

Dominika joined Covenant shortly after the Fort Myers site opened, giving her the unique opportunity to grow alongside the office. She began as a Research Assistant, then transitioned into the Clinical Research Coordinator role, and now serves as the Call Center Director. In her current role, she oversees recruitment strategy, site start-up, and patient engagement – ensuring patients are well-informed and matched into the appropriate studies. As the first point of contact for many patients, she and her team play a critical role in setting the tone and communicating the mission of Covenant from day one.

Professionally, Dominika plans to begin medical school next summer, having already earned acceptance but deferring for a year. Her motivation stems from seeing the tangible impact that clinical research has on patients – especially those with liver disease and metabolic disorders. Being part of a team advancing treatment options and improving patient outcomes has been one of the most rewarding aspects of her work.

After moving to the U.S., Dominika and her family initially settled in Anchorage, Alaska before making their way to Florida. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her two Australian Shepherds and continues to explore research interests. She has contributed to multiple projects, including Detecting Liver Salmonella Cells in Realtime Using Silver Nanoparticle Antibody-Conjugated Optical Probes (FGCU, 2021-2022) and Comparison of Non-Invasive Testing for Liver Steatosis to Liver Biopsy Results (AASLD, 2022).
