Guy W. Neff, MD, MBA, FAASLD

Primary Investigator and Chief Executive Officer


Dr. Neff serves as the Principal Investigator at Covenant Metabolic Specialists, LLC. His medical degree is from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio. Internal Medicine training included a third year Chief Resident at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, in Canton, Ohio. Gastroenterology and Hepatology training at Louisiana State University at Shreveport in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Neff then trained an additional three years in Advanced Endoscopy, Hepatology, and Transplant Medicine all at the University of Miami. Dr. Neff served on the faculty as Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of Miami, then transferred to the University of Cincinnati where he acted as an Associate Professor of Medicine and Medical Director for Liver Transplantation. Dr. Neff then transferred to Life-Link in Tampa, Florida to serve as Chief of Hepatology and Medical Director of Liver Transplantation. Dr. Neff then served as Medical Director for AbbVie Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Neff is presently the CEO of Covenant Metabolic Specialists in Sarasota, Florida and an active consultant for many pharmaceutical companies that are creating remedies for patients suffering from NASH and various other liver diseases.

Dr. Neff has served as the Principal investigator for several hundred clinical trials in various phases of drug development. His research interests include nutrition and endocrine, fatty liver disease, cholestatic liver diseases, and autoimmune diseases.

Dr. Neff has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally for cirrhosis and nutrition, transplant outcomes, liver dialysis, sarcopenia and nutrition, and management of viral diseases.

Dr. Neff is active in many professional medical societies. He is a member of the International Liver Transplant Society, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and European Association for the Study of the Liver.

Dr. Neff has authored over 150 publications and more than 300 abstracts and presentations. His work has been published in numerous journals, including the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Clinical Transplantation, Liver Transplantation, and Transplantation Proceedings. He is on numerous publication review boards.
